A near branch can still hand back the whole triliteral root, because it left late, after the root had settled. A branch that left earlier keeps only the binary nucleus, the first two consonants. That is what we expect. The bars below do not draw the expectation, they count what happened: 3,448 issued links across 16 tongues, each one a word joined to an Arabic word and quoted from a named classical lexicon. The sisters answer mostly at the root, the nucleus share climbs the further out you go, and Egyptian, earliest of all to split, answers at the nucleus in most of its links.

We open a tongue's file without knowing whether it will answer, and if it stays silent we leave the file open. So far every one of the 16 has answered, from the Semitic sisters out to a branch that left before the triliteral root had settled. Each tile carries what that tongue returned: how many links, how they split between the later root layer and the older nucleus layer, and how many distinct Arabic roots they reached, which is the number a link count hides.

One flaw we could never argue away: we were the ones choosing which words got tested. Choose your own examples and you have chosen your result along with them. So we handed the choosing over. The tool reads a tongue's own dictionary end to end, strips each entry down to its consonants, asks the Arabic lexicons what answers to that skeleton, and drops whatever no Arabic lexicon attests. Only then does it set the two meanings side by side. Out of 14 dictionaries it brought back 3,989 words where sound and sense both held, 2,899 of them carrying a named lexicon citation. Another 23,294 matched in sound and nobody has read their meanings yet. A second pass works on the binary nucleus instead of the whole root, down where a far branch is likeliest to have kept something, and it turns up … more.

We examine relationships between words across languages, Arabic roots, binary nuclei and articulatory meaning. Each reading begins with a word's form, meaning and morphology in its source, then examines sound and semantic relationships across derivatives and family members.
Earlier scholarship now enters the database with its full source records and attribution. The consolidated research page presents lexical findings, sound comparisons, CLICS results and new witnesses, identifying completed and remaining work.
2 · The vision: the first tongue and the binary-root era

We are not saying other languages are daughters of late Classical Arabic. What we are saying reaches further back: they descend from the binary-root era of the old tongue, the era Arabic kept most fully. This chapter puts the vision on the table bare. The method that tests it comes after.

Read the chain below from the bottom up. At the floor, a mouth imitating what it hears. Above that, the imitation condenses into a seed of two letters, and the seed builds a language. Arabic carried that construction whole; every other tongue carried what it could.

- The imitation floor. The oldest layer: the mouth imitating the world. In خَرير, أَزيز, طَنين the letters are the sound. - The binary seed. Two voices condense into a nucleus that carries meaning. - The law inside Arabic. 28 fixed charges compose through the full nucleus catalog into 2,285 trilateral roots with full native coverage (one loanword). - Fossils inside Arabic itself. - The preservation gradient. - The universal floor. At the deepest layer, the words an infant forms first, even the furthest branch (Chinese) still shows the trace. 3 · The scholars we stand on

This is not a new idea, freshly invented. It is a thread that goes back twelve centuries, to al-Khalīl al-Farāhīdī's *Kitāb al-ʿAyn* and Ibn Jinnī's "the sounds of letters echo the shapes of their meanings." In the modern era, Dr Muhammad Hassan Jabal's *Etymological Dictionary* and Hassan Abbas's *Properties of the Arabic Letters* gave us the data and the sensory axis we test against. This study extends their work; it does not replace it.

From الخليل بن أحمد الفراهيدي (founder of Arabic linguistics, 8th c., Kitab al-Ayn) through ابن جنّي in al-Khasais (11th c., the إمساس الألفاظ أشباه المعاني doctrine on form-meaning correspondence), the classical lexicographers and grammarians worked out the architecture of root, derivation, and articulation that this study extends. المعجم الاشتقاقي المؤصَّل, the canonical dataset every layer of this study tests against: 2,300 unique roots total (2,288 trilaterals + 12 quadri/quintilaterals), 2,285 trilaterals graded under the operative grammar to date, 455 operational binary nuclei (the source-repaired catalog reached 454; the author then admitted the separately sourced, non-Jabal nucleus وب), 1,666 Quranic applications. Jabal's compositional model (letter → binary → trilateral) is the structural skeleton; the study's new findings (the full-event faces law, 11-mode native operative grammar + LOANWORD label) refine it against his own data.

A series of comparative papers matching English and Indo-European vocabulary to Arabic roots, field by field (mathematical, democratic, and more). The project reads his proposal tables card by card: his European entry, romanisation, and proposed Arabic counterpart are quoted under his name, then the pair is re-examined with the project's own instruments (the full candidate fan, the frozen letter-event, the named sound path, and a hand-written orbit) before any verdict is issued. Thousands of his rows now sit in the reading files with their own audit trail.

أصل الألفاظ العامية المصرية: comparisons carrying Egyptian colloquial words back to ancient Egyptian and Coptic. The project keeps his unit of measure explicit (living colloquial, not the classical root, and with his own direction of borrowing), so his material is read in a layer of its own: quoted under his name, re-examined with the project's instruments, and never merged silently into the main count.

Every branch word is read against its own tongue's published lexicon, cited by name in each card: the Chicago Assyrian Dictionary (Akkadian); Simon D. Schweitzer's Ancient Egyptian Dictionary (AED); the Comprehensive Coptic Lexicon v1.2 (BBAW/KELLIA); the Kaikki.org machine-readable extractions of Wiktionary for twelve tongues; G. A. Cooke's Text-Book of North-Semitic Inscriptions (1903) for Phoenician and Punic; Dr. Ali Fahmi Khashim's «الأكادية عربية»; and the Mansour verse-alignment matrix («التراث المأثور») whose measured shift frequencies order every candidate fan. The published classical Arabic lexicons (Lisan al-Arab, Taj al-Arus, and their sisters) are cited by name and article, never copied.

4 · The method and its constitution: from mouth gesture to word meaning

In any Arabic word, two letters meet in a seed-meaning, then a third arrives and says what the seed does: carry it, hold it, release it, block it? Take قصر. The seed قص is a decisive cut; the ر it lands on is running, flowing; a cut that blocks the flow is exactly what قصر means. Below are the four layers of the stack, the five-step reading anyone can follow, and the full-event law that runs underneath all of it.

Under Constitutional Amendment 3 (final form, 2026-07-12), a letter's charge is not a static meaning but a full staged pronunciation event. The bāʾ, for one, is a soft lip-meeting, then a pressured hold, then an opening release. A letter's faces are the phases of that event, the phases its nucleus families voted for in Jabal's catalog (two witnesses or more; below that, weakly attested), while a described mouth-phase with no lexical witness stays a «described phase» that composes no meaning. The face-selection law runs as one system from the bottom of the build to the top: the nucleus-partner selects the phase in the binary, and the third letter re-selects it in the trilateral. The registry of these faces is now frozen at v1.0, author-ratified: a court dossier per letter, each with a specialist writer and an adversarial checker, feeding the LV0 charge table above. Per-letter stress tests, with binary nuclei split across the faces and Quranic verse anchors, are in dual-face-stress-test.md.
يصفُ التعديلُ الدستوريُّ 3، في صورتِه النهائيّةِ المؤرَّخةِ 2026-07-12، شحنةَ الحرفِ بأنّها حدثُ نطقٍ له مراحلُ متّصلة. تأمّلِ الباءَ: تلتقي الشفتانِ التقاءً رخوًا، ثمّ يُحتبَسُ النفَسُ تحتَ ضغط، ثمّ تنفتحانِ فيخرج. ووجوهُ الحرفِ هي مراحلُ هذا الحدث التي شهدتْ لها عائلاتُ النوى في ديوانِ جبل. ويُطلَبُ لكلِّ وجهٍ شاهدانِ فأكثر، وما دونَ ذلكَ ضعيفُ الإسناد. فإن وُصِفَ طورٌ من حركةِ الفمِ ولم يشهدْ له المعجم، بقيَ «طورًا موصوفًا» لا نبني عليه معنًى. وفي النواةِ يُعيِّنُ الشريكُ الوجهَ العامل، ثمّ يُعيدُ الحرفُ الثالثُ تعيينَه في الجذرِ الثلاثيّ. وقد اعتمدَ المؤلّفُ سجلَّ الوجوهِ v1.0 وجمَّدَه، بعدَ أن خُصِّصَ لكلِّ حرفٍ ملفٌّ تولّاه كاتبٌ وراجعه مدقّقٌ مستقلٌّ يختبرُ حجّتَه. ومنه يأتي جدولُ الطبقةِ الصفرِ (LV0). وتجدُ اختبارَ الوجوهِ بشواهدِ النوى والآياتِ في ورقةِ اختبارِ الوجوه.

Scope of the result: why 455 operational / 505 attested, not 784?نطاق النتيجة: لماذا 455 تشغيليّة/505 مشهودة لا 784؟ honest framingحدودُ ما شملَه البحث
"Full native coverage" and "455 operational binary nuclei" invite the obvious question at once: what about every other pair? With 28 letters, there are 28² = 784 mathematical possibilities for an L1·L2 binary. After folding hamza variants (أ/إ/آ/ء → ا) and alif-maqsura (ى → ي) onto the canonical alphabet, 505 unique binaries appear in at least one trilateral root in the lexicon (507 raw forms before fold). The historical analysis used Jabal's 453-table; dated source repairs brought the project catalog to 454, and the author's separately sourced adoption of وب brought the operational registry to 455 without attributing it to Jabal. Of the remaining 279 unattested pairs, the partition is honest and adds up:

139 pairs (50%) of the unattested set are blocked by known Arabic phonological constraints: alif as a vowel, OCP, articulator-class. These are not gaps; Arabic structurally cannot have them.

5 · The three reference tables: letters, nuclei, modes

Three tables carry most of the work in this study, in the order of the build. The first lists what each of the 28 Arabic letters *means*, its full pronunciation event and its witnessed faces. The second samples the most active two-letter nuclei, the seeds that build the largest families of roots. The third gives the eleven native composition modes by which a nucleus acts on a third letter. Every line is traceable to a source.

Under Constitutional Amendment 3, a letter's charge is not a static meaning but a full staged pronunciation event. Each row gives that event, then its registered faces (the event's phases witnessed by Jabal's nucleus families) with the number of witnessing nuclei beside each; a described mouth-phase with no lexical witness is marked «طور موصوف». The older one-line charge is kept as a small «brief charge» column. Faces and witness counts are drawn from the frozen canonical faces registry (a court dossier per letter, writer and adversarial checker, author-ratified). The bottom-up path from letter to binary to trilateral is grounded by the study's second principal finding. Every Arabic trilateral root in the lexicon is interpretable as a single operative relation:

…where this "operation" takes one of eleven native composition modes (with a twelfth label, LOANWORD, reserved for the 1-in-2,285 non-native root), finite and closed. 2,285 of 2,288 trilaterals are graded (99.87%): all 2,285 receive a coherent classification, comprising 2,284 native-mode calls and one separately labeled LOANWORD. This full classification coverage is not a 100% native-fit claim. Caveat (kept close to the claim): every verdict comes from a single rater, and the model is descriptive rather than generative at this stage. All 2,285 records now carry a complete letter-by-letter binary reading, the final 302 weak-letter and defective-root nuclei (hollow / hamzated / و-ي roots) were completed from the fixed charges, anchored to Jabal's axial meanings. The focused Qur'anic loanword audit (27 worked cases from al-Suyūṭī's al-Itqān and Jeffery's catalog) finds that all 27 resolve as native, reverse-cognate, or convergent, none is a passive borrowing into Arabic. The binary nucleus is the agent; the third letter is the material the nucleus acts upon. Under this reading, قصر reads cleanly as "قص-cutting-precision BLOCKS the flow (ر)", a single coherent operation, like every other native trilateral in the corpus.

Any descriptive grammar can be bent to fit data it has already seen. The test of a real rule is whether it predicts before it looks. If the eleven native composition modes are real, particular root shapes and particular letter-charge classes ought to cluster in particular modes. They do.

Say كَلام (kalām) and "claim". قَرن (qarn) and "horn". أُمّ (umm) and Sanskrit mātṛ. Say them out loud before you decide. In this project's reading, Arabic is the original tongue, the one that kept the sound-meaning logic of the first human language most intact, and every other tongue is a branch carrying a fading copy of it. This section reads the letter-charges across the branches and orders them by how much of that one original logic each one kept.

The reading cards now carry 3,448 issued links across 16 tongues, each one joining a word in an ancient tongue to an Arabic one and naming the layer where they meet. Sorted by branch distance, they show the gradient the thesis predicts: the near Semitic sisters answer at the later triliteral root, while the deeper branches answer at the older binary nucleus (Coptic 82% nucleus, Egyptian 63%).

Everything in this section rests on one thing. The binary two-letter nucleus is the original shape of a word, the seed from which later, more elaborate systems (Aramaic and the Semitic sisters, then the distant families, and the syllable-built tongues like Chinese) all branched. Arabic preserved that seed most fully, so it reads as the umbrella the others derive from: the Semitic sisters its closest dialects, Egyptian a cousin that split deeper, Sanskrit and Indo-European far branches, and beneath them all a universal floor every tongue still shares. The branches below are ordered by how much of the one original tongue each kept.

This is the audible proof, and the oldest layer of all. In an onomatopoeic word the letters are not arbitrary labels: they are the sound, made by the mouth. The two rolled ر in خَرير run the trickling water; the doubled ز in أَزيز vibrate like a buzz; ن is literally "ringing", and it carries طَنين. Every form below is attested in لسان العرب and تاج العروس, nothing invented. Beside each sits a real foreign word that lands on the same noise: the shared floor of the one tongue, kept where the sound-meaning bond is oldest. This is the floor every tongue still stands on.

How to read this table: each row is one two-letter seed. Left of the seed sits its mouth-gesture; then one meaning; then the actual attested word in each named tongue. The point is visible in every row: the same seed, with the same gesture, builds the same meaning in four sister languages, and often survives in a far branch too. Every word traces to the project's vetted rosters; the far-branch cells only carry witnesses that survived the disciplined readings

Now the practical question. One single pair goes on the table, an Arabic root beside a foreign word: how is it vetted? The project uses a four-bar rubric, and the phonetic bar of that rubric does not invent its allowed sound-shifts; it takes them from documented scholarship, whose modern Arabic reference is the scholar below (his nine laws now sit inside the project's larger closed shift network, alongside a tenth law our own corpus surfaced).

A pair earns Tier-A status only if it clears all four bars: consonant skeleton match (via Khshim's sound-substitution laws, tightening into regular correspondences) · nucleus identity (the binary semantic seed survives the crossing) · modern reader-recognition · dual-family confirmation (Semitic and Indo-European traces). The same four-bar rubric, applied in reverse, asks the harder question: do the centuries-old "loanword" claims about Qur'anic words actually survive scrutiny? We worked all 27 cases listed in al-Suyūṭī's al-Itqān and Arthur Jeffery's catalog through the framework. The result: all 27 (100%) resolve as native Arabic compositions, reverse-borrowings from Arabic, or convergent emergence: none is a passive borrowing into Arabic. The two cases that long resisted both turned out to be morphological misreadings: مَجوس is a trilateral م-ج-س on وزن فَعول (the augment-و is not a root letter), and زنجبيل is a native compound زَنّ + جُبَيل · "the small molded knob that emits a sharp zing", exactly the pattern of بَعلَبَك and حَضرَموت. What looked for centuries like proof of foreign vocabulary in the Qur'an dissolves when each word is read letter-by-letter under a disciplined native grammar. How rare is a chance match? Under the substitution rules, two unrelated words share a three-consonant skeleton only about 0.7% of the time, and a two-consonant one about 3.5% (five times more often). Hebrew and Aramaic are the closest surviving dialects of the one tongue, the same Semitic speech as Arabic, split off by regular rule not long ago. They share قَلب/heart and مَوت/death because all three inherited them, intact, from the one original source, this is common descent, and common descent is the thesis. The sibling numbers (Hebrew 84%, Aramaic 97% top-tier) are the near end of the preservation gradient, the branches that kept the most, high because the sisters eroded the least, and they set the baseline the further branches are measured against. The framework does more than restate that descent: (1) within Arabic itself, reading meaning out of the letter-gestures across 2,285 roots; (2) the phenomenological why the siblings never give, comparative Semitics says "death is a shared root," the framework says why that sound means death (the gathering-sealing-completion gesture), the full reading of the deepest shared roots is here; and (3) the reach beyond the siblings, into Egyptian (a 6,000-year split) and Indo-European (a separate family on the standard tree), where shared vocabulary is not obvious. The gradient across the branches, siblings ~90%, super-family ~55%, the most distant branches lower, is not a signal fading into noise; it is a preservation gradient: how much of the original tongue's sound-meaning logic each branch kept. Arabic kept it most intact; the further a branch eroded, the more scattered its surviving traces, but where a trace survives, read through the fixed charges, it still composes to the same meaning. That convergence of meaning across branches long drifted apart is what points back to one original tongue, the original Arabic. The four-bar rubric is the honesty filter that keeps genuine traces and turns away forced look-alikes, not a rule that distance equals doubt.

Arabic ↔ Hebrew, 219 entries, 84% top-tier (117 PERFECT). The PERFECT share alone (53%) dwarfs Egyptian's 4%. Whole fields come over intact: the numbers 1–1000, the body, kinship, the sacred lexicon (نَبيّ↔navi, كاهِن↔kohen, قُدُس↔qadosh). Arabic ↔ Aramaic, 96 entries, 97% top-tier (62 PERFECT). Aramaic completes the trio and shows the one-tongue divergence happening by rule: أرض→arʿā (ḍ→ʿ), ذهب→dahab (ḏ→d), ثلاث→tlāt (ṯ→t), سلام→shlama (s↔š). The regularity of the shifts is itself the signature of a single language diverging, not a scatter of coincidences. data.

Arabic ↔ Akkadian, 75 entries, 93% top-tier (24 PERFECT). Akkadian is the oldest attested Semitic, the earliest written sister of Arabic (~2500 BCE), so it pushes the unity baseline back two millennia. Its signature is the loss of the gutturals (بَعل baʿl → bēlu lord · عَين ʿayn → īnu eye · أَرض ʾarḍ → erṣetu earth) alongside the regular interdental shifts (ثَلاث → šalāš, أُذُن → uznu, اسم → šumu). Whole core fields cross intact, the body, kinship, the numbers, the pronouns (أنا↔anāku, أنتَ↔atta). Five honest parallel-stems (king↔šarru, son↔māru) are kept low, not forced. That a sister this old still reads this cleanly through the same fixed charges deepens the trace of the one original source. data.

The Indo-European roster above tests the framework against distant relatives of Arabic. The framework's deeper prediction is that resonance should be cleanest where the family tie is closest, and Arabic's closest family is Afro-Asiatic (Egyptian, Hebrew, Aramaic, Berber, Ge'ez). This roster of 324 Arabic ↔ Ancient-Egyptian pairs (and growing) reads under the same operative grammar without forcing across the full vocabulary spectrum: 13 PERFECT (same root, no shifts) + 8 PROTO-AFRO-ASIATIC (family-shared pronouns and particles) + 1 DUAL-FACE PAIR + 158 STRONG (predictable articulator-class shifts) + 92 PARTIAL + 39 PROVISIONAL + 13 DIVERGED-STEMS. Top-three-tier hit-rate: 179 / 324 = 55%, twice the calibrated distant-IE rate. Deep-family-core (the 20 most-universal family-wide words, the pronouns, eye, mother, water, die, soul, fixed by category and tagged deep_core in the data): 14/20 PERFECT/PROTO-FAMILY (70%), 16/20 top-three-tier (80%). The audit surfaces 30+ structural revelations the framework brought to the surface, metathesis cognates like لِسان ↔ ns (Coptic ⲗⲁⲥ restores the ل), dual-face L3 swaps like رود/روض, polysemy as evidence of shared seed (Egyptian snt = tooth + sister + second on one nucleus), and articulator-class shifts that align hidden semantics (حَيّ ↔ ʿnḫ, جانِب ↔ gs, سَمِع ↔ sḏm). Top-three-tier hit-rate: 55%, over twice the calibrated distant-IE pool (25%). Deep-family-core (the 20 most-universal words, tagged in the data): 70% PERFECT/PROTO-FAMILY, 80% top-three-tier. The PROVISIONAL share is honest: once you go past the most-shared vocabulary into animals, plants, tools, abstract terms, categories where surface lexicon naturally diverged across 6,000 years, the framework still *reads* the words coherently, but the consonants no longer align directly. Sanskrit is the most distant branch tested. We do not grade it by genetic cognacy, we read each word's own sounds through the 28 fixed charges and ask one question: does the gesture compose to its attested meaning? In the deep core, kin, body, number, basic action, it does, and it composes cleanly: a set of worked single readings, exploration layer. Several land exact through the charges: قرن↔karṇa (k-r-n ↔ q-r-n, the curved projection with a resonance cavity = horn / ear), منى↔man (m-n, inner concentration rising as thought), طنّ↔tan (ṭ-n, the dental pull into a vibrating line = tension), مخّ↔makha (m-ḫ, the gathered mass pierced = inner essence), نخس↔nakha (n-ḫ, the directional point that pricks; Arabic نَخَسَ = to prod), ناموس↔namas (n-m-s exact = bowing in reverent submission). These are not borrowing claims, and not coincidences at distance: when the same gesture builds the same meaning this far out, the framework reads it as a surviving trace of one original tongue, the original Arabic, whose sound-meaning logic Qur'anic Arabic kept most intact. Read this table for what it is, not more: these few words are not the Chinese case; they are only its shallowest layer, the universal floor showing through. The structural case for Chinese is made in the Sino-Sumerian annex: Old Chinese froze the very binary CVC template (consonant + vowel + consonant) that Arabic's hollow roots preserve, and it composes externally by compounding (日+月 = 明) exactly where Arabic composes internally on a third radical. The first methodical Old Chinese readings have begun under the constitution (目 *muk beside م-ق among them), and that corpus grows reading by reading; this floor table stays small because the floor is thin by nature.

Chinese is the furthest branch of all: a tonal, syllable-built tongue that, in this project’s reading, spread from the original binary tongue long ago and kept the least of it. Yet even here, in the words an infant forms first, the same mouth-gesture still shows through. 妈 mā for mother rides the م lips-gather; 目 mù is eye, 水 shuǐ is water. These are the floor-traces of the one origin, the last echo a distant branch still carries, not a coincidence of separate invention. That the floor still shows through even here is the surest sign it is one and shared.

The deep-decomposition constitution: how the distant branches are read nowدستورُ التفكيكِ العميق: كيف تُقرأُ الفروعُ البعيدةُ الآن
In July 2026 the project rebuilt its distant-branch method into a frozen, versioned constitution. Two layers: exploration gathers candidates freely, verification grades them, and only verification numbers are ever published. Two tracks: the close sisters are compared at full-root level, while the distant branches split, per the thesis, at the binary stage, so they are compared at nucleus level; and when a full three-radical match does appear, it ranks highest of all (ROOT-TRACE, a skeleton whose chance rate is about 0.7%). Every reading stands on three legs at once: a named phonetic path from a closed network of documented human sound-shifts (each entry carrying a real attested example and a named source, tagged where its evidence is a loan event); the 28 fixed charges as they are; and a pre-registered field card per nucleus, whose meaning-match must stand in one named orbit of the gesture-event (the act, the agent, the instrument, the result...), the derivational orbits of Arabic itself. Loanwords and Wanderwörter are screened out first, pruning is free and expected, and every path is logged in a public ledger. The hollow roots (مَوت، مَوج، مال: consonant + long vowel + consonant) are, by the author's hollow-root rule, the binary template itself, frozen: the weak middle is a vowel-stretcher, not a root partner, so the true seed of موت is م-ت, of موج is م-ج, of مال is م-ل. Jabal's own catalog confirms it silently: it has no «مو» nucleus at all, yet holds م-ت, م-ج, م-ل and م-ه, and its reading of م-ج ("a gathering that surfaces from the depth") describes the wave verbatim. And the two branches that froze the very same CVC template, Old Chinese and Sumerian, compose externally by compounding (日+月 = 明 sun+moon = bright; lu+gal = big man = king) exactly where Arabic composes internally on the third radical. One template, two strategies, one origin.

And in the same two batches the method pruned without embarrassment (yuga, 名 "name", 木 "wood", maḫ, dumu all NO-TRACE on their failing leg), and the Silk-Road screen caught 蜜 "honey" (Old Chinese *mit, a documented Tocharian loan from the madhu route) before it ever reached a reading. Free pruning is what makes the surviving traces mean something. Sumerian is read by triangulation through the Sumerian-Akkadian lexical lists, the oldest dictionaries on earth: gal's Akkadian partner is rabû, Arabic رَبّ; en's is bēlu, Arabic بَعل; ki's is erṣetu, Arabic أَرض; and the partner of a "water" is mû, beside Arabic ماء. The preservation gradient, Arabic most intact, then Hebrew, Aramaic, Egyptian, and the more distant branches, raises one question: is there a layer so deep it survives in every branch? There is. Go as far as Chinese, a completely different writing system and structure, and the root-level matches thin out, but the deepest stratum still holds: the words a human infant forms first, mother, I, this, reach for the same mouth-gesture across the branches that drifted furthest apart. This is the floor of the gradient: the original tongue's logic at its most indestructible. It is not zero, it is universal.

Murdock (1959) surveyed 1,072 languages and found the word for mother uses a nasal (m/n) in the overwhelming majority, far above chance. Jakobson (1960) explained why: the m is the sound a nursing infant makes with lips closed. The framework reads م as gathering, the gathered source, exactly this, from first principles. And Chinese adds a twist: its characters began as pictures (水 was a drawing of flowing water, 山 of mountains). Arabic encodes meaning in the shape the mouth makes; Chinese in the shape the hand draws. Two roads, one destination: meaning living in the form of the sign, not arbitrarily assigned to it. Why the reading is disciplined: the four-bar check in action كيفَ تعملُ ضوابطُ القراءة؟
The reading is strong precisely because the bar is high. Surface resemblances that do not clear the consonant-skeleton bar are turned away, for example ع-ل-م ✗ signum (skeleton S-N vs ʿ-L-M), ق-ر-أ ✗ legere (Q-R vs L-G), ن-و-ر ✗ lumen (N-R vs L-M), and ي-ت-م ✗ yatīm (a historical loan from Arabic, not a parallel emergence). 7 · The harvest: what settled, what strengthened

Arabic builds meaning out of the way the mouth moves. It is a phonetic system, not a list of words a culture happened to coin, and we can now show that empirically, on real data, with predictions made in advance. The same system shows up across distant languages, and shows up even more cleanly in Arabic's close family (Egyptian, Hebrew, Aramaic). And the Qur'an, when tested word by word, contains no borrowings. Each finding below links to the audit that backs it up.

Every Arabic letter carries meaning كُلُّ حَرفٍ عَرَبيٍّ يَحمِلُ مَعنى
Each letter carries a charge drawn from where the mouth makes it, not an empty sound. The bāʾ sticks. The rāʾ runs. The qāf cuts. The mīm gathers. And that charge is a whole staged event of pronunciation: its faces are the phases of that event, and a letter's neighbours select which phase speaks. This is the rule for all twenty-eight letters, with no exception.

Two letters form a meaning-seed حَرفان يَصنَعانِ بِذرةَ مَعنى
When two letters meet, they make a binary nucleus. K + L = "the extending enclosure" (in kalām, kalb, kalima). J + M = "gathering into a mass" (in jamaʿ, jamāl, jamīʿ). The third letter joins and shapes how the seed acts, in one of eleven distinct ways. Eleven, not three, not twenty. These eleven cover every Arabic root without forcing; their existence is settled, while their exact boundaries are working science: a blind second reading (2026) reproduced the broad stance at 62% and the exact mode at 38%, so the labels are being sharpened with an example-anchored manual. And this two-letter seed is not only Arabic’s: in this project’s reading it is the original shape of a word, the form that later, more elaborate systems (including the syllable-built tongues like Chinese) branched out from.

Indo-European carries a faded copy of Arabic’s roots آثارُ الجذورِ في الفروعِ الهندوأوروبيّة
We do not read these as late borrowings, nor as two equals meeting halfway. We read them as conceptual families a distant branch kept, in a worn-down form, from the one original tongue Arabic preserved whole, held in the consonant skeleton. Kalām ↔ clamare / claim: the same voice-extended-under-constraint. Qarn ↔ horn / corn (Welsh): the same hard sharp projection. Sabt ↔ Sabbath: across three Indo-European branches. The mainstream comparative philology missed this because it assumed Semitic and Indo-European were already separate when the parallels formed. They are not.

Twenty-seven words flagged by orientalists as borrowings into Arabic (firdaws, qamīṣ, injīl, qalam, qirṭās, ṭāghūt, majūs, zanjabīl, and others) were re-read under our grammar, letter by letter. All twenty-seven (100%) resolve as native Arabic, or as reverse-borrowings from Arabic into the neighbour language, or as words preserved jointly with neighbours of the same era. The last two that resisted (majūs, zanjabīl) turned out to be morphological misreadings: majūs is a trilateral on وزن فَعول, zanjabīl a native compound (زَنّ + جُبَيل · "the small molded knob that emits a sharp zing") on the same pattern as Baalbek and Hadramawt. Centuries of "loanword" claims dissolve when each word is read under a disciplined native grammar.

The framework predicts meanings before we look, and the dictionaries confirm them من المعنى المتوقَّعِ إلى الشاهدِ المعجميّ
We picked sixteen two-letter combinations Arabic seems not to use. Before checking any dictionary, the framework predicted what each would mean. Then we searched the deepest classical lexicons. Seven matched our predictions exactly: wakhz (the needle-prick we predicted for w·kh); dhaff (the sharp single-blow cleavage we predicted for dh·f); shadhdh (the deviation-by-piercing we predicted for sh·dh), and four others. The grammar produces real Arabic before anyone tells it.

A tenth correspondence beyond Khshim's nine, surfaced by the corpus تقابلُ ط وt في ضوءِ قوانينِ خشيم
Dr. Ali Fahmi Khshim catalogued nine sound-substitution laws mapping Arabic letters to Indo-European ones (ك ↔ Q, ف ↔ P, ج ↔ G…). Running every confirmed cognate through them, one correspondence his list didn't include kept recurring: ط ↔ t, the emphatic ṭāʾ softening to a plain dental. It is the single most active pattern in the corpus (68 hits, the highest mean score of any). We don't claim it as new to linguistics: de-emphaticization is well known, and often-cited words like ṣirāṭ (a Latin loan from strata) and qirṭās (Greek chartēs) are borrowings. The modest, exact result: the data surfaced a tenth recurring correspondence beyond the nine Khshim wrote down.

Tested twice by two independent runs, and the strong findings held ماذا أبقتِ القراءةُ المستقلّةُ الثانية؟
Every cognate finding was scored a first time, then re-scored independently by a second blind run applying the same calibrated rubric. Ninety percent of the strong findings survived the second pass. The findings the project headlines are not one rater's judgement; they are structures that two independent runs agree on. Where the second pass disagreed (mostly at the looser borderline), the dashboard shows both scores side by side rather than hiding the disagreement.

The framework reads Ancient Egyptian unmodified, every word on the first try قراءةُ المصريّةِ القديمةِ بالشحناتِ نفسِها
Arabic and Ancient Egyptian are close family: both Afro-Asiatic, both sharing an ancestor that predates the cuneiform records. We took 200 word-pairs spanning the full vocabulary spectrum (pronouns, body parts, kinship, motion verbs, action verbs, cognition, adjectives, nature, time, the sacred lexicon) and ran every one through the framework. 199 of 200 read coherently; the roster has since grown to 324 pairs at 55% top-tier (vs 25% for the distant Indo-European pool), with a deep-family-core rate of 80% top-tier (the 20 most-universal words, tagged deep_core in the data). The strongest evidence isn't the obvious matches; it's the cases where two words looked unrelated until the framework forced the alignment. The audit surfaced 30+ structural revelations, cases where the framework didn't just confirm a known cognate but revealed a hidden connection: metathesis cognates (لِسان ↔ ns, with Coptic ⲗⲁⲥ restoring the ل · أَنف ↔ fnḏ), dual-face L3 swaps (رود/روض · واسخ/واسع), and Egyptian polysemy as proof of shared seed (snt = tooth + sister + second on one nucleus · mwt = mother + die · ḥtp = rest + offering). The framework wasn't designed with Egyptian in mind; it just works, which is exactly what happens when a grammar documents something genuinely Afro-Asiatic rather than Arabic-specific.
تشتركُ العربيّةُ والمصريّةُ القديمةُ في الأسرةِ الأفروآسيويّة. وقد بدأنا بـ200 زوجٍ من ألفاظِ الضمائرِ والجسدِ والقرابةِ والحركةِ والعملِ والإدراكِ والصفاتِ والطبيعةِ والزمنِ والمقدّس. واستقامتْ قراءةُ 199 من 200، ثمّ اتّسعَ السجِلُّ إلى 324 زوجًا، منها 55% في الأصنافِ العليا، مقابلَ 25% في المجموعةِ الهندوأوروبيّة. وفي المفرداتِ الأساسيّةِ العشرينَ الموسومةِ deep_core بلغتِ الأصنافُ العليا 80%. ومن أكثرِ الحالاتِ دعوةً إلى التأمّلِ ما خفيتْ صلتُه في أوّلِ النظر. فقد سجّلَ التدقيقُ أكثرَ من 30 ملاحظةً بنيويّة: لسان↔ns معَ ظهورِ اللامِ في ⲗⲁⲥ القبطيّة، وأنف↔fnḏ، وتبادلُ الوجهَينِ في رود/روض وواسخ/واسع، واجتماعُ السنِّ والأختِ والثاني في snt، والأمِّ والموتِ في mwt، والراحةِ والقربانِ في ḥtp. وهذه قراءةٌ بأدواتٍ وُضِعَتْ ابتداءً للعربيّة.
The hollow roots are fossils of the binary era الجذورُ الجوفاءُ أحافيرُ الطورِ الثنائيّ
Roots like مَوت، مَوج، مال (consonant + long vowel + consonant) puzzled everyone, including our own survey: their families never radiate one field. The hollow-root rule resolves it: the weak middle is a vowel-stretcher, not a root partner, so the true seed of موت is م-ت, of موج is م-ج, of مال is م-ل. Jabal's catalog confirms it silently: it holds no «مو» nucleus at all, yet holds م-ت, م-ج, م-ل, and its reading of م-ج ("a gathering that surfaces from the depth") describes the wave verbatim. The hollow class is the binary template frozen mid-growth, the binary era surviving inside Arabic itself.

The law that solved the puzzle of the "regular deviations": the muffling kāf selects the bāʾ's held closure (بك), the open ḥāʾ selects its release (بح), and the third letter re-selects the phase in the trilateral. One system from the bottom of the build to its top (Constitutional Amendment 3).

Each letter has a court dossier: Jabal's reading, our charge, and the mouth gesture, all three tried before the vote of the nucleus families in Jabal's own catalog, with a writer and an adversarial checker per letter. The outcome is the frozen canonical faces registry v1.0, and Jabal's own phonetic marginalia in his printed lexicon matched the registry's faces verbatim.

- PASS3Pass 3, an honest negative. 20 unused 4-letter skeletons were pre-registered with predicted meanings, then searched in Lisān and Tāj: 0 hits. So the framework is generative at the binary level but only interpretive at the quadriliteral level (it reads 145/150 real quadriliterals, yet cannot predict unused ones). - Independent second-rater pass. Done for the operative modes (2026-07-06): a blind re-rating of all 2,285 gives fair agreement (37.9% exact mode, Cohen's kappa 0.305; 61.8% on stance), the disagreement concentrating on an over-broad OPERATE, so the eleven-mode taxonomy needs an example-anchored manual and a tighter OPERATE before it reproduces (the charges and nucleus readings were given, not tested).
